Dato' Syed Amin Aljeffri

Dato' Syed Amin Aljeffri was born on 10th November 1947 in Sungai Petani, Kedah. He received his early education at the Sungai Petani Malay School and continued his secondary education at the Victoria Institution, Kuala Lumpur. In 1968, he entered the University of Malaya and graduated in 1971 with a Bachelor in Economics, specializing in Accounting.

Career

  • Served in ESSO Malaysia Berhad
  • Certified Accountant and served at the international accounting firm of Touche Ross & Co. in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada (September 1973)
  • Senior Accountant, ESSO Malaysia Berhad (1976)
  • Financial Analyst, ESSO Eastern Inc., Houstan, Texas, USA (1979)
  • Accounts Manager, ESSO Production Malaysia Inc. Malaysia Operations
  • Started his own accounting firm:
    a. Aljeffri & Co.
    b. Aljeffri Sdn. Bhd. (Tax advisory services)
    c. Al-Zam Sdn. Bhd. (Secretarial services)
    d. Aljeffri Management Services Sdn. Bhd. (Accounting services, advisory services on electronic data management and processing)
  • Board member, Chocolate Products (M) Berhad (1983-1984)
  • Chairman, Audit Committee of Employees Provident Fund (EPF) (1991-1992)
  • Director and Chairman of Audit Committee of several public listed companies listed with Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange
  • Member, Corporate Affairs Committee of the Malaysia Institute of Accountants
  • Board Member, International Group of Accounting Firms (IGAF) (1991-1993)
  • Committee Member, Midsnell Group International (MGI), an association of international accounting firms (1994-1996)
  • General Treasurer, Malay Chamber of Commerce Malaysia (MCCM)
  • General Secretary, Malay Chamber of Commerce Malaysia (MCCM)
  • Main Committee (now known as Executive Council) of MCCM (1992 until now)
  • Deputy President, Malay Chamber of Commerce Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur Branch (1994 until now)
  • Acting President of Kuala Lumpur, Malay Chamber of Commerce, Malaysia

His vast experience and involvement in the above have made the companies in the Aljeffri Group to be a local company with an international outlook, in line with the concept and vision of Dato' Syed Amin himself to internationalize the Malays rather than the Malaynise the internationals in respect of professional services. As such, the various companies in the Aljeffri Group are the role models for other local companies, capable in providing complete and integrated corporate and management services.
