Dato' Haji Shuib was born in Penang on 5 May, 1914. He had his primary and secondary education at the Penang Free School from 1921 to 1932.

  • State Financial Officer, Kedah
  • President, Alor Setar Municipal Council
  • Assistant Secretary of State 1
  • Secretary of State (1959 - 1969)
  • Chairman, Public Service Commission, Kedah (1970 - 1976)
  • Chairman, Syarikat Perusahaan Utara Sdn Bhd
  • Chairman, Syarikat Kenderaan Langkasuka (Sungai Petani)
  • Director, Syarikat Perusahaan Simen Malaysia Bhd.

Involvements in Social and Professional Organisations:

  • President, Kedah Club
  • Director, Rotary Club of Alor Setar (Charter Member)
  • Chairman, Kedah Public Library Corporation
  • President, Cricket and Hockey Societies
  • Deputy President, Kedah Sport Council
  • Deputy President, Kedah Badminton Society
  • President, Malaya Welfare Centre Council

In appreciation of his contributions, he was awarded several honorary medals and titles. Among them were the Bintang Perkhidmatan Cemerlang (B.C.K.), the Dato' Paduka Mahkota Kedah (D.P.M.K.), the Pingat Sultan Badlishah and the Darjah Kesatria Mangku Negara (K.M.N) from His Royal Highness di-Pertuan Agong. And in 1976 he was awarded the title Dato' Paduka Seri Indera Kedah.
